Cosy Maximalism - Get the Look

This interiors trend has been around for decades, but this year you will see nods to cosy maximalism everywhere.

Maximalism doesn't mean cluttered, and many people make this mistake! It's about creating a feeling, having beautiful and functional items paired together to create a warm and inviting space. Cosy maximalism is having a resurgence right now namely because we are want our homes to be a safe haven, filled with all of the things we cherish.

This is the reason I love maximalism, I love having things around me that are not only beautiful but functional. A candle that not only smells good but looks good, a gold platter that makes you feel bougie af and gives you somewhere to pop your cup of tea, a blanket thats pretty and cosy, all of these things are designed for a purpose but that doesn't mean they can't be beautiful too!

I've popped my top tips for creating a cosy maximalist living room below and you can check out some of my favourite maximalist items here. Happy decorating!

  1. Layer those prints! Florals with Leopard print 100% go together and don't let anyone tell you differently.

  2. Keep a colour thread. Creating a colour palette will help keep you on track for decorating, don't be afraid of using a few bold colours.

  3. Texture baby! Maximalism and texture go hand in hand so mix it up with boucle, faux shearling, embroidery and tufted fabrics.

  4. Get into new heights. And I don't mean put things up high! Different height accessories will elevate your room and add some drama.

  5. Be eclectic! This doesn't mean just pile on loads of stuff, be selective with what you choose and remember you don't have to get everything at once, pick out pieces over time and your home will grow with you.
