Easy Tips to create your perfect tablescape

Summer is time for picky bits in the garden, having friends over for brunch, lazy sunday roasts and endless wine and nibbles. But all these social occasions can put pressure on us to be the perfect hostess, and I know you've got too much going on to be able to create the pinterest perfect tablescape everytime, so let me help!

Below I've outlined some really easy tips to create your perfect tablescape.

1. Lay the Base - Getting a table cloth that adds some personality to your table is a must have. Personally I wouldn't go with plain white because it doesn't add anything to the styling of the table, and if they stain it's very noticeable! If you 100% need to go with white go for an embroidered one or a lace one as this will add texture to your table and help disguise any spills.

2. Add Height - Adding differing heights of accessories is a really easy way to add drama and pops of colour yo your tablescape. An easy way to do this is with dinner candles and various candle holder. Mixing short vintage candle holders with eye catching designs will make your table feel fuller.

3. Invite Nature In - Flowers go a LONG way on a table and are such an easy way to add colour. My best advice is buy bunch with a few complimenting flowers/colours and then separate into vases of varying size. I like to have one medium sized vase with the rest in small and single stem vases. This will make it look like you have more flowers than you do.

4 .Miss-match - Matching is boring! Go for contrasting plates like these ones from Bode Living. Just watch out for people fighting over their favourite plate! Add interest with miss-matching serving plates and bowls, I love the embossed ceramic bowls from Bode Living, they add so much colour and pattern to a table.

5. Have Layers - This goes for everything on the table, the more the merrier! The only thing to watch out for is to make sure your table doesn't look cluttered. Think more intentional layers! For example use a vintage glass side plate for your bowls and either layer your plates or get some cute placemats. Having contrasting napkins can also add depth so mix and match from you tablecloth.
