Get the look - 70s bedroom

When I think of the 70s the first thing that comes to mind is colour. From carpeted walls to pattern clashing and full colour blocking it is a feast for the senses. But it can be overwhelming! I've put together a few tips and tricks on how to redecorate with this iconic era in mind, but little bit less chaotic and more manageable than having to hoover your ceiling.

First things first, lets pick some colours! The 70s is synonymous with those peachy, burnt orange, rust and creamy tones, but there was also a lot of green, pink, gold and so so so many patterns. For this little project lets go classic and have it in the orange family with some highlights of course!

So now we've got the colour down we need to get everything assembled. So below I've picked out but choices of headboards, blankets, lamps. rugs and accessories from all over the internet, so you don't have to! My best advice when taking inspiration from the 70s is that more is more, theres no such thing as too many patterns, your curtains need to be wall to wall no matter the size of your window and if you feel like something is missing, it's probably a cheeseplant. Happy decorating!

Rattan furniture is an easy way to add some 70s elements to a room, and a headboard makes the biggest statement! TOP LEFT HEADBOARD // RIGHT HEADBOARD // LEFT HEADBOARD // RATTAN BED

Patterned bedspreads

Blankets are the perfect way to add layers of print, colour and texture. Don't be afraid to go bolder than you usually would. ORANGE BLANKET // FLORAL FLEECE // PATTERNED BEDSPREAD // PINK QUILT

Statement Cushions

Talking of being bold, adding some throw cushions with 70s fabric and contrasting prints can elevate your bedroom, just be sure to keep a common colour theme throughout the room. FRINGED CUSHION // TUFTED CUSHION // CHECK CUSHION // GREEN FLORAL CUSHION

70s artwork

Having a gallery wall or some statement art will help pull your room together and there are so many amazing places to shop for interesting prints now. Or if you want you could add a record wall using the Vinyl wall! BOTNICAL PRINT // STARBUST CLOCK // VINTAGE PATTERN // JOY IS NOW

Statement Lamps

Amber glass, Rattan, Bubble shapes, all of these scream 70s to me, short of adding in a lava lamp these will give you the perfect nod to the 70s. ORANGE BOBBLE LAMP // PINK GLOBE // RATTAN LAMPSHADE // BUBBLE AMBER GLASS

70s inspired rugs

Use rugs to add pops of colour and statement prints, layer them for the biggest impact. CHECKERBOARD RUG // STRIPED BROWN AND CREAM RUG // MUSTARD RUG // ABSTRACT RUG
